We are Edie and Kristen, Registered Dietitians and happy vegans.
We both came to veganism from different paths:
Kristen: After reading and studying all of the literature on the wonderful health benefits of a whole foods, plant based diet, I decided that I needed to share this with my family and clients. Then i exposed myself to the suffering of animals and the destruction of the environment and decided that going vegan was definitely the right decision.
Edie: I came to vegansim after I opened myself up to the suffering of animals and the impact of animal agriculture on our environment. But i had to make sure it was a healthy balanced eating pattern for my family and clients. I studied the research and realized that it can be the healthiest diet for a long and active life. I was able to follow my heart and became vegan.
Now, we feel a deep responsibility, as vegan dietitians, to help others start a healthy transition to veganism.
